Legendary Croatian marathon swimmer dies in Split

Famous Croatian marathon swimmer Veljko Rogosic, who swam La Manche at the age of 63 and four years later in 2008 was the first person to swim from Europe to Africa, has died in Split on Tuesday.
Rogosic, who was born on 21 July 1941, died after a long and difficult illness. Rogosic had a long and distinguished swimming career, captaining the national representative team for 15 years, reports daily newspaper Jutarnji list.
Rogosic appeared at two Olympic Games, in 1960 in Rome and in Tokyo 4 years later. Rogosic held numerous records and was renowned for swimming across the section from Sicily to Tunisia, making him the first person to swim from Europe to Africa.

Croatia to take part in building two pipelines
