Two Australain nationals have admitted to police in the Dalmatian city of Split, that their earlier reports of being attacked and robbed in the centre of town were false.
A 38 year-old male and 29 year-old female reported to Split police that they were attacked and robbed in the centre of Split on Sunday, 5 August by a group of unknown people. According to the couples report, they said they were threatened and had jewellery, cash and mobile phones, all to the value of 5,000 kuna (665 Euros), stolen.
However, after further questioning, police found their report to be false. Although their motive for making the false report is unknown, it is assumed that the false report was part of a scam to get money from their Australian insurance company.
