CIA link to Dubrovnik Airport, claims Sudan source

Croatian Times

The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) was involved in extraordinary renditions via Dubrovnik, a newspaper has claimed.

According to the Sudan Tribune, in 2005 five terrorist suspects were taken from Malawi to Sudan where they were locked up in secret interrogation prisons.

But citing a report called ‘Globalizing Torture’ by the Open Society Justice Initiative (OSJI), the suspects were taken via Croatia at least twice.

The OSJI referenced a 2006 report by Amnesty International (AI) which mentioned that flights N313P-N4476S, associated with CIA extraordinary rendition operations stopped over twice in Dubrovnik airport including one coming from Sudan.

Dubrovnik airport manager Tonci Peovic confirmed to Amnesty that "[t]he airport’s log book contains entries on a plane with registration number N4476S from Khartoum in Sudan landing in Dubrovnik on 23 April 2005 and leaving for the United States on 25 April 2005".
