European cultural items to get buried in a time cage in Hvar

Croatian Times

To mark its 400th anniversary, Europe’s oldest public theatre on Hvar is placing cultural items from around Europe into a specially designed Time Cage which will then be buried for 100 years. Hvar mayor Pjerino Bebic said he would like as many people as possible to send in items for the Cage. "People can send everything they think should be buried to describe the actual moment in Europe. "From Adele's CD to Manchester City football jersey or gadgets like iPhone. "The plan is that the cage will be opened in 100 years for the 500th anniversary of Europe's oldest public theatre." He added that he had already spoken to celebrities including Tom Cruise, Eric Clapton and Bernie Ecclestone. The Time Cage will be buried in front of the theatre on 24 March. "We want to leave to new generations a sign of our time and to preserve Europe's oldest theatre for them," he said.
