Tito's safe to be opened after 33 years

Croatian Times

A safe with belongings of late Yugoslav communist president Tito will be opened later this month for the first time since his death in 1980. Serbian sttate officials formed a special group which will open the safe currently in the capital Belgrade. The president of the three member board, Oliver Antic, however failed to unveil the exact date of the opening. "We still don't know the contents of the safe, whether there are only private belongings in there or things that belong to the state", he told daily Vecernje Novosti. For years speculation has been rife that treasure could be hidden inside the safe. Tito rulled in former Yugoslavia from 1945 to his death in 1980. His widow Jovanka Broz had a burglar in her home recently and an expensive Chinese vase was stolen. It was a wedding gift from Chinese communist leader Mao Ze Dong.
