Indian guru lectures on solar yoga in Split
Croatian Times
Indian guru Hira Ratan Manek gave a lecture on the topic of solar yoga or "sun-gazing" on yesterday (Thurs) evening in Split.
He believes sun energy can heal not just all illnesses but all world problems, such as wars and pollution.
Ratan Manek claims he can live more than 130 days exclusively on water and sunlight.
Many Split residents who attended the lecture said they were familiar with solar yoga and had practiced it for years.
Ratan Manek, 72, told the Croatian Times it was extremely important to start sun-gazing for only 10 seconds a day at first and slowly increase that time each day. One should gaze at the sun early in the morning or late in the evening. The best way to do it is barefoot in nature.
He added: "The sun heals neurons in you brain and automatically heals your body. You will feel better and work better, and all your health problems will be cured. Watching the sun is like watching TV, you just need to concentrate, and then you become relaxed and calm."
The Indian guru believes food is only a secondary energy source because it needs energy from the sun. When he watches the sun, he receives energy from it and has no need for food.
Because of his teaching, Ratan Manek was invited to visit the US National Aeronautics and Space Agency (NASA). They examined him for 130 days in 2002 and said he was telling the truth.
NASA believes his experience and advice can be helpful in solving the problem of food storage in space shuttles. What they hope to do is to teach astronauts to feed themselves only with the sun. Some media have reported that American soldiers in Iraq have already used that technique.
