Croatian diver is planning an action to clean the sea

Croatian Times

Kristijan Curavic, one of the best Croatian divers, is planning to break the Guinness record with ecological action in May 2010 in five Croatian cities.

The daily 24 sata has reported Curavic will organize an action to clean the sea in which around 1,000 divers, including many well-known Croats, will take part.

Curavic said he was aware that many swimmers and divers came to Croatia because of its clean sea but very often found waste in it.

He said: "I expect around 20,000 residents to take part in the  action. We plan to continue it for the next 15 years and to break the Guinness record every year. I believe this is a chance for Croatia to show it is a country that cares for its ecology."

Divers will first be obliged to attend an ecological-diving seminar and then will search for waste and remove it from the sea.

Curavic expects the action will be covered live by numerous media and Guinness    representatives. It is already being supported by some Croatian ministries and numerous companies.

Curavic is the first and only man to dive beneath the North Pole. He has set three consecutive world records in free diving under ice and is determined to become the best free diver in the world by breaking all free diving records.
