Simple Minds frontman Jim Kerr shrugged off flu as his band played to more than seven thousand fans at the "Spaladium Arena" in Split last Friday.
Football fan Kerr swapped Hajduk Split and Celtic scarfs between songs in a set list which included the group’s hits from the 1980s and tracks from their new album Graffiti Soul.
During the show Kerr admitted doctors had advised him not to go ahead with the gig because of his flu but that he had not wanted to let down fans.
After the concert he said: "It was a magical night. The band and the audience really came together. This was our first time in Split and we won't forget it."
He later wrote on the band’s official web site: "Finally, a day free from concerts today and I changed travel plans so I could stay an extra day in sunnyish Split. The water is lapping against the rocks outside my room window and it is calling me down to walk along beside it. That I will do!"
Vlatko Stefanovski, whose Vlatko Stefanovski has been the support act for Simple Minds’ last three concerts, said: "It was a great pleasure for us to perform with these people. I have been a big fan of them since the 80s, and I must say they are surrounded by great professionals. All three days we had great sound and organization, all without stress. We had rock and roll days that I do not remember since the 1970s."
