Croats to kayak across the English Channel

A group of enthusiasts in Croatia have decided to cross the English Channel in kayaks to promote the area where King Arthur was buried.
"Some say we are crazy, but everyone will like it when we really do it", Denis Jonjic told the local daily Slobodna Dalmacija.
Sixteen people from southern Croatian village Podstrana are prepared to cross the Channel in six kayaks on 10 June this year.
The story about King Arthur in Croatia was launched when British historian John Matthews claimed that a tomb discovered near the tourist hotspot of Split was that of the legendary figure.
Matthews, a consultant on Clive Owen's and Keira Knightley's hit movie "King Arthur," believes Arthur was really Roman General Lucius Artorius Castus, who was born in a tiny village near the tomb site.
Castus died in Croatia, where he was the local ruler, and Matthews believes a tombstone in the coastal town of Podstrana being studied by scientists was the legendary King’s final resting place.
Scientists have removed stone from the tomb in Podstrana for carbon-dating tests supported by Arthur expert Matthews.

Banks post huge profits in Croatia again
Banks in Croatia have once again posted huge profits. In the first three months of 2012, banks in Croatia record profits before tax of 1.29 billion kuna (170 million Euros), according to interim unaudited data for 32 banks in the country, it was announced on Wednesday by the Croatian National Bank (HNB).
Finance Ministry gets tough on evasive companies
At the request of creditors, Croatia's leading Financial Agency Fina has blocked around 38,000 companies and 26,000 tradesmen, because of more than 42 million kuna (5,3 million Euros) of outstanding liabilities, reports daily newspaper Vecernji list.
