Vlado Franjevic promotes multilingual poetry
Croatian Times
Croatian artist and author Vlado Franjevic is participating in the exhibition "From Death to Life" organised by reformed churches in the Swiss Rhine Valley.
Franjevic, who lives in the Principality of Liechtenstein, is exhibiting four paintings especially painted for the occasion.
Vlado has also had published a small bilingual book of poetry with twelve poems in Croatian and German.
On 12 March at the opening of exhibition in Azmoos, Vlado read nine poems in both languages in front of one hundred German-speaking visitors. Not one Croat, however, found it interesting enough to listen to Croatian poetry in a Swiss church.
Ceris Dien read Vlado’s poems in English and Welsh in Bankor, Wales in the UK today (Fri).
In his newest publication "Touch of Silence," Vlado invited friends around the world to translate his poems into different languages.
In response, AainaA Ritz A.R. from Malaysia translated the poems into Malay and French, A. Okhi Irawan from Bandung, Java translated them into Bahasa, and Alex Kassandrinos from Athens translated them into Greek.
Vlado’s idea was to have a multilingual book published as a tool for building cultural bridges around the world.
