World class violinist busks on the streets of Zagreb

Croatian Times

Top violinist Julian Rachlin has been earning a bit on the side by busking on the streets of the Croatian capital Zagreb.

But Lithuanian born Rachlin collected just 12 GBP from passersby.

The busk was organised by the Croatian daily newspaper Jutarnji List to see whether ordinary people recognised quality.

But although some passersby said they recognised Rachlin, the internationally acclaimed violinist didn’t come anywhere near getting the tens of thousands of pounds he earns from his concerts.

Rachlin is known in Croatia for his annual traditional music festival in Dubrovnik which has also featured Hollywood stars such as Sir Roger Moore. The festival takes place every September.
