Split to have its first chamber-music festival

The city of Split has finally got its first festival of chamber music – the MAG festival that will be held from 26 August to 5 September at the city museum in Split.
Festival organisers are young musicians in the newly-founded association of young academic musicians – MAG.
On six concert evenings, audiences will hear over 20 musicians in 15 various chamber groups playing pieces composed by 30 different composers from baroque to modern times.
The concerts will take place in the great gothic hall in the museum because Split has no concert hall.
MAG initiator Josip Dragnic said he hoped the city government would recognize its effort.
Museum head Elvira Saric Kostic said it had offered use of the hall free of charge because it wanted to help young musicians and to enrich the museum programme.
During the festival, audiences will be able not only to visit the museum but also to enjoy some music.
