Giant 200-kilo pumpkin winner of first International Pumpkin Exhibition in Tovarnik

A gigantic pumpkin weighing 201.8 kilograms was the overall winner of the first International Pumpkin Exhibition that took place in Tovarnik (eastern Croatia) at the weekend.

The giant vegetable is the product of hard work and years of experience by long-time grower Milenko Coralic from Klisa (near Osijek). Coralic received 7,500 kunas (1,030 Euros) as his prize.

The crowning of the winner pumpkin was the climax of the traditional Festival of fruit brandy, liquors, marmalades and pumpkins held for the fifth time this year.

The organizers hope that the pumpkin contests would also become a part of the tradition as it has drawn a large number of both spectators and participants from Croatia and neighbouring Bosnia and Herzegovina, the daily Jutarnji List writes.

Croatian Minister of Agriculture Petar Cobankovic was in attendance, the daily writes.
