Ocean sunfish strays into Rijeka´s river
Croatian Times
A rescue operation took place yesterday (Tue) to transport a humongous ocean sunfish back to its natural habitat from the mouth of Rjecina river where it was found.
The sunfish (mola mola) somehow strayed into the river and worried onlookers called emergency services to the rescue. The director of Natural History Museum in Rijeka Marin Kirincic said: "We had to drag him out of the water and put him in a dingy in order to transport him quicker, so he would not suffer."
He added it was not clear why the fish had ended up in the river.
Experts speculate that the current may have dragged it or that the fish had suffered some sort of trauma, the daily 24 Sata writes.
