ER star to play Gotovina in film

Croatian Times

Croatian actor Goran Visnjic, best known for his role as Dr. Luka Kovac in the hit television series ER, was in the Hague this week not only to give support to jailed Croatian generals Ante Gotovina and Mladen Markac, but also to prepare for his next film role.

Visnjic, who has forged a successful acting career in America, will play Ante Gotovina in a film to be directed by Visnjic's father-in-law Antun Vrdoljak, which is due to begin shooting this autumn.

The idea for the film came from both Vrdoljak and Visnjic following the events in the Hague when Gotovina was sentenced to 24 years in prison for war crimes and the emotional shock that followed in Croatia. The pair want to tell the film world the story of Croatia's most well known soldier, reported daily newspaper Jutarnji list.
