Film about Lady Di to boost Croatian economy by 4 million kuna

Besides being an excellent promotion for Croatia around the world, the film about the life of Lady Di, "Caught in Flight" which is currently being filmed in Croatia, is set to bring in around four million kuna (540 thousand Euros) to the country, reports website poslovni.hr.

Filming begin this week on the film that stars Naomi Watts as Lady Di in Zagreb and Opatija and Croatia's Minister for Entrepreneurship and Trade says the film will greatly benefit the Croatian economy.

"The filming of this film, like any other business, is investment into Croatia. The producers have a budget for the film of four million kuna (540 thousand Euros), which they will spend in just two weeks of filming in Zagreb, Opatija and Rovinj. For this project they also employed our companies," said Maras, who met with the films producers this week.

"You dont need to talk about how much publicity this film gives Croatia. The photo of Naomi Watts in Croatia went around the world in thousands of media," added Maras.

Croatia is becoming a popular filming destination for Hollywood after the Croatian Audiovisual Centre (HAVC) initiated special 20 per cent tax relief was introduced for the filming of foreign feature and short films, TV drama series and animated movies.
Recently the popular HBO series "Game of Thrones" announced that they will again film in the southern Dalmatian city of Dubrovnik.
