Documentary film Sofia’s Last Ambulance by Ilian Metev and co-produced by Sinisa Juricic from Croatia, won the Grand Prix prize for the best documentary film longer than 30 minutes at the 47th International Film Festival in Karlovy Vary in the Czech Republic.
Sofia’s Last Ambulance is a German-Croatian-Bulgarian co-production co-funded by the Croatian Audiovisual Centre (HAVC), the Bulgarian Film Fund, Film- und Medienstiftung NRW (Germany) and Impact Partners (USA), with the support of ARTE and WDR broadcasters.
Sofia's Last Ambulance is a documentary film about the adventures of a doctor, a nurse and an EMS driver in Sofia. In the Bulgarian capital these people are trying to save lives, struggling at the same time with nonsense in a decaying health system. The film has had great success, recently also picking up the France 4 Visionary Award at the 65th International Film Festival in Cannes, reported the Croatian Audiovisual Centre.
