Open Days at Vasko Lipovac atelier in Split

Croatian Times

The Vasko Lipovac Association in Split have organised open days at the Vasko Lipovac atelier in Vukovar street in Split. With 2012 being an Olympic year, this year's manifesto opens with a "Sport" themed exhibition, just two days before the opening of this year's Olympic games in London on 26 July at 19:30pm, and finishes with a promotion of the art monograph "Vasko Lipovac-Sport" in September 2012.

The "Sport" themed exhibition includes around 300 works including drawings, sculptures and prints of athletes, jumpers, weight lifters and gymnasts which will be exhibited in the atelier.

In August there will also be a presentation of the sculpture ensamble "Bicyclist" on Vukovar street, and the peak of Vasko Lipovac open days will be the promotion of the monograph of renowed authors.

According to admirers, visitors will have a chance to see the human side of sport which does not exist anymore.

"Sport has lost its beautiful manners a long time ago, players shake hands in anger after the game and defeat means the end of the world, and it doesnt help when sports journalists say their opponent "destroyed" them as they like to say. The athlete then needs six months of psychotherapy, and with difficulty they slowly rebuild their lost confidence. All of these unlucky ones I would bring them to the Lipovac atelier," said Split writer Ante Tomic.
