The 6th Vukovar Film Festival, "Festival of the Danubian countries", will be held from 22 - 26 August at various locations in the eastern Croatian city of Vukovar, reports daily newspaper Jutarnji list.
This year’s festival selection includes awarded films from prestigious international festivals such as Berlin, Cannes and Sundance.
The audience will have a chance to see the winner of Berlin’s Silver Bear for best director, German film "Barbara" directed by Christian Petzold, about an East German doctor who dreams of fleeing to the West. The programme also includes Berlin’s Jury Grand Prize winner, hard-hitting Hungarian drama "Just the Wind", directed by Benedek Fliegauf which deals with violence against Hungarian Roma.
The side programme, The World, includes the winning film from the Sundance Film Festival (Grand Jury Prize) and the winner of four awards at the Cannes Film Festival, fantasy drama "Beasts of the Southern Wild", by US director Benham Zeitlin.
