Croatian Olympic gold medalist Sandra Perkovic swapped her trainers and discus for a gown and earings as she played the part of Empress Prisca, the wife of Emporer Diocletian on the weekend as part of the the "Days of Diocletian" tourist manifesto in the Dalmatian city of Split.
The Zagreb born discus hero received commemorative earrings as a gift for the occasion from the City of Split. Perkovic lead the procession from Split's waterfront to Peristil, where members of the imperial family were presented and gladiator flights were once held.
Crowds applauded as Perkovic and the Emporer carriage passed through the old town of Split, the Olympic champion revelled in her role as Empress Prisca on the night, reports website dnevnik.hr.
