Croatian author Lada Zigo will be presented with an award for her book Roulette at the 2012 European Union Prize for Literature in Brussels on 22 November.
The awards ceremony, held at the Albert Hall Complex, will be presented by Androulla Vassiliou, the European Commission's Commissioner in charge of Culture, Education, Multilingualism and Youth.
Roulette is an existential thriller exploring how gambling can become the only hope for people who have no prospects.
The story follows that of a man who tries to outwit roulette used as a metaphor for destiny, using a creative strategy based on numbers.
