Lesbian Virgin Mary posters withdrawn

Croatian Times

Theatre bosses in Croatia have withdrawn a poster showing the Virgin Mary as a lesbian after facing furious protests from church-goers. The poster - showing Mary in traditional robes being embraced from behind by another woman - has been branded blasphemous by protestors in Zagreb who threatened to protest in front of the Gavella Theatre. "I apologize to all that were offended. There is no need for the poster to get more attention than the performance itself," Gavella Theatre director Darko Stazic said. The play - 'Fine Dead Girls' - is about two lesbian students who come in for criticism at their college.
