Final fund-raiser for Sandra Paovic to be held on 13 April

Croatian Times

An event to raise money for severely-injured Croatian table tennis player Sandra Paovic will be held on 13 April in Zagreb.

The event, to be called "Sandra, ti to mozes" ( Sandra, you can do it)  will start at Jarun Lake with a race and continue with a football game and a table-tennis tournament. A call centre will be set up to enable people to donate money over the telephone.

The action is supported by many Croatian sport associations and clubs, as well as by the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport.

Paovic was seriously injured in a traffic accident near Paris on 30 January. She suffered a severe cervical-spinal injury.

She will need nine months of rehabilitation at a special clinic in Lucerne that will cost around four million kunas or 536,000 Euros.

Sandra's condition is improving each day although doctors still do not want to give any prognoses about her recovery, according to Croatian table tennis selector Neven Cegnar.
