Only one Croatian game investigated on match-fixing scam

Croatian Times

Investigators are looking at only one Croatian match as part of a massive Europe-wide investigation into alleged match-fixing and corruption, it emerged yesterday (Weds).

It had earlier been reported that investigators were looking into 14 games in Croatia.

But it has now been confirmed that only one is under investigation.

Although no concrete details have been given out local media have speculated that the game in question was the clash between Zadar and Hajduk Split in April. But Zadar head Reno Sinovcic and players have dismissed the allegations.

German officials last week announced around 200 European football games were being investigated over match fixing allegations, some of them Champions League fixtures. It is believed millions of Euros were placed in illicit bets after trainers, referees and players were paid bribes.
