Darko Matic among best football players in Asia
Croatian Times
Croat Darko Matic has been named one of the best football players in Asia by English magazine Goal.com.
Matic, 29, is a defensive midfielder for the club Beijing Guoan. Brazilan Rivaldo, who plays for the Uzbek club Bunyodkor in the same position, was also named to the team.
Matic said: "It is a great honour for me to be chosen as one of the best football players in Asia along with Rivaldo. It’s also an especially satisfying to get this recognition from the country where football was created."
Matic was named one of the 11 best football players in the Chinese championships by Chinese experts in 2009. Its fans voted him the best foreigner ever to play for the club.
He played for the Chinese club Tianjin Teda in 2007.
