Tyson Gay to compete at Zagreb international athletic meet
Croatian Times
Tyson Gay, a top-ranked American sprinter, and Croatia’s best high jumper Blanka Vlasic will be the biggest stars at IAAF World Challenge Zagreb 2010, a Zagreb international athletic meet that will be held on 1 September.
Among others, the athletic meet popularly known as "Hanzek" will also feature 20-year-old Croatian Sandra Perkovic who became the youngest-ever women's discus-throw champion at the 20th European Athletics Championships held in July in Barcelona.
Gay beat Usain Bolt in the 100-metre race in August in Stockholm with a time of 9.84 seconds.
World-record holder Bolt was second with a time of 9.97 seconds. Gay, whose main events are the 100- and 200-metre races, will compete in the 100-metre race in Zagreb.
This year’s meet event will cost 4,200,000 kunas (577,000 Euros), one million kunas or 137,000 Euros less that a year before.
Around 7,000 tickets have gone on sale.
