Vlasic sets seasonal record at Continental Cup in Split

Croatian high-jumper extraordinaire Blanka Vlasic has set the seasonal record, jumping 205 centimeters on her first attempt at the IAAF Continental Cup held over the weekend in her hometown Split.
In front of more than 20,000 enraptured spectators at the Split stadium Poljud, Vlasic found inspiration for a series of successful jumps, the daily Vecernji List writes. She conquered all heights – 188, 192, 195, 200, 202 and 205 centimeters – on the first try.
Vlasic also attempted to beat the 209 centimeters world record set in 1987 by the Bulgarian Stefka Kostadinova, but without success.
Vlasic was the overall winner of the competition, followed by Emma Green from Sweden in second place (195 centimeters) and Levern Spencer from St. Lucia in third (188).
