Homosexuals banned from Croatian national team, says football federation president

Croatian Times

Croatian gay and lesbian associations have condemned Croatian Football Federation president Vlatko Markovic after he said there was no place for homosexuals in the national team.

"While I'm a president of the Croatian Football Federation, there will be no homosexuals playing in the national team", Vlatko Markovic said in an interview with Croatian national daily Vecernji List.

Asked whether in his career he has met a homosexual footballer, he has replied:

"Luckily, only normal people play football".

Gay and lesbian associations have informed the Croatian media that they will sue the Football Federation President for discrimination. They also intend to report Vlatko Markovic to UEFA.

The Croatian national football team is in the top ten of the FIFA world ranking.

Well clearly gays are not welcome here so I hope people will join me in boycotting countries like Croatia with dubious human rights records for their holidays

I'm sure there are currently homosexual or bisexual men on team. They should feel insulted and express such by walking away from the team or at least refusing to play. But, of course, that will not happen. I'm sure that if enough of his good players walk off or refuse to play the threat of falling out of their top 10 ranking would get Mr. Markovic's attention.

This man, Markovic, is a disgrace and should be removed from his position. He honestly believes there are no gay men playing football? He is shamefully uneducated. The sporting community deserves better.

Good on him for saying what he thinks.! Most people do but in this "politically" correct society, we have to accept. See if they would speak out in Muslim countries!! Gays are not normal!! Get over it. Don't try to change society. You don't create within-man or woman-woman. What can't you understand??? If only in Australia politicians would speak out like this!!

Hmmm. Ironic answer. So you take one over the top reactionary statement as confirmation that you're doing the right thing by leaving the country? Hurry up and go. The only problem with our country is the constant bleating whingers like you.

Reb, Ignore these aussie fools. They don't know that being part of the EU pulls this great country down. You are 100% right.
