Olympic Handball Bronze for Croatia

Croatian Times

The Croatian handball team saved their best performance for their last match at the Olympics Games in London, with a comfortable 33:26 win over Hungary to claim the bronze medal at the games yesterday (Sun).

After an agonising loss to France in the semi-final on Friday, Slavko Goluza's side picked themselves up and played their best handball in recent years as they outplayed the Hungarians.

"I want to congratulate the players, I am happy for them the most. I also want to thank our fans who supported us here and also all our fans in Croatia. Any medal at an Olympic Games is not to be taken lightly. I am proud of the guys," said coach Goluza.

Croatia's top scorer was Ivan Cupic with eight goals, Blazenko Lackovic with seven and Domagoj Duvnjak with six goals. Hungary could not get past Croatia's goal keeper Mirko Alilovic, who saved thirteen shots in the match.
