Miami Heat NBA player wants to play for Croatia

Croatian Times

American Croatian basketball player Justin Hamilton, who is with the Miami Heat in the NBA, has signed to play for Croatian club Cibona and says he is wants to represent Croatia.

The 22-year-old was selected in the second round of the 2012 NBA Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers, but was then traded to the Miami Heat.

The 213 cm centre has signed on loan to the Zagreb club for one year to get experience in Europe before returning to play in the NBA and will play as a 'local' player thanks to his dual American and Croatian citizenship.

"Hamilton has signed a contract, you will see very quickly on the court what kind of player he is," said a happy Cibona coach Veljko Mrsic.

Croatian website Tportal reports that Hamilton has a desire to represent Croatia, the birthplace of his mother, and not the United States.
