The combination of an extended holiday weekend thanks to Labour Day, and early summer like temperatures will see more than 70,000 tourists flock to Croatia this weekend.
The Istria and Kvarner region in the northwest of Croatia is expected to be the most popular destination in the country with over 11,000 tourists descending to the town of Rovinj alone, which is more than double that arrived the same time last year.
Most of this weekend's tourist will come from neighbouring Slovenia, where the government has declared Monday a public holiday together with Tuesday's May Day holiday, allowing the Slovenia's the luxury of a four day weekend.
The nice weather has come at the right time for the tourists as temperatures are expected to soar to around 30 degrees Celsius over the weekend in Croatia, reported rtl television.
